Who better to take your dog off-leash than one of our Trainers?
walkabout is the off-leash walking opportunity you’ve been waiting for! Our unique concept is designed around safe fun. When your dog is with us, our primary responsibility is to keep them safe all while reinforcing the skills you’ve worked hard to achieve. Small, carefully managed groups are lead by our trainers creating the ultimate outdoor off-leash experience. Exciting, stimulating, social and great exercise – that’s our walkabout.
Here’s how it works.
Before your dog joins our walkabout, you and your canine will have the option meet with one of our experienced bonded and insured Trainers. Before leaving your home, we want to ensure that everyone is comfortable working together, and that your dog has familiarity and trust before going out into an off-leash environment.
On walk days, each dog will be fitted with a GPS device before leaving your home. This guarantees that on a walkabout, there is no such thing as a lost dog. Each dog will travel in our customized canine-friendly van. Low to the ground to provide access for all breeds and sizes, even outfitted with harnesses and crates for safety. Your canine will be transported to and from the park in a climate-controlled environment for year-round comfort.
Every walkabout begins and ends with a short on-leash walk. This helps to achieve focus and also builds the bond between your dog and our Trainers. During the off-leash portion of the walkabout, focus exercises will support the work you do at home and help provide the mental stimulation to focus your dogs’ energy. Dogs will have the opportunity to engage with each other in a supervised environment, providing the physical exercise and social connection they need to have fun, while out with us. And they will come home relaxed and happy.
Each dog receives a daily journal so that you can track your dog’s progress and view comments on their behaviour. Since our Trainers are experienced instructors who have gone through our extensive clevercanines Training Program, they are here to support you with information on canine behaviour, and can suggest any appropriate training protocols.
Our highly structured and carefully managed walks will have no more than 8 to 10 dogs. Our goal is to provide an off-leash experience where we minimize disruptive energy, providing they type of environment where dogs have fun.
Here’s what you can expect.
- Experienced and clevercanines Trainer to guide each walkabout
- Low number of dogs (8 to 10) for the highest safety and quality of walk
- GPS device on every dog
- Patience, recall and focus skill reinforcement
- A positive social experience for your dog – play time with their buddies!
- Customized, climate-controlled and canine “outfitted” van for maximum safety while travelling
- Close monitoring of your dogs enjoyment – stress-levels and progress are priorities for us, we will work with you to ensure a walkabout is right for your dog
- Dedication to skill support, not skill instruction. walkabout is NOT a training class nor should it take the place of one
- Personalized monthly progress report and behavioural notes; Group video updates
Prior clevercanines training is not required, however all walkabout dogs must qualify, meaning they must have good manners, get along well with other dogs and have fairly good commands.
We do not require a minimum number of walkabout sessions per week for your dog. We believe that off-leash walking is a great tool for many dogs to support their existing walks and can be a fun way to add some variety to their routine in a positive social setting.
